International Yoga Dy
5th edition of International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2019 in
GEC Bilaspur.
Dr. K.K Shrivastava, Yoga expert along with enthusiast officials, staffs,
and students performed Yoga at MV Hall. Dr. Shrivastava appealed
everyone to practice yoga and take it to all sections of the society. This
event was organised by NSS under the leadership of Dr. S.K Dabadghao.
Since 2015, the international day of yoga is being celebrated every year
on 21st June

Art of Living
60 Sophomores(All Branches) of GEC Bilaspur participated in Art of Living
program organised by Student Excellence and Learning Program (SELP)
from 1st April to 6th April during 4 PM to 6 PM. This program was
conducted by Shir Vikas Sahu, Trainer, Personality Development Center of
Art of Living Bilaspur.
The program of Art of Living provided students with practical tools to deal
with challanges in all spheres of life. Activities related to dealing with
stress, increasing peace of mind, improving overall physical, mental and
emotional health were conducted which developed upbeat attitude in
students. Certificates of participation were also given to Sophomores.
Technical talk
A Technical Talk on "Plant Automation" was delivered by Mrs. Swati Soni
Katware,Manager, Planing and System, NTPC Sipat, on 25th April 2019 to
the 50 students of final and pre-final year Electronics &
Telecommunication
and Electrical Engineering Branch of GEC Bilaspur. This Expert lecture
was conducted by Et&T and Electrical Student Society of GEC Bilaspur.
Institute is very Thankful to Mrs.Swati Soni Katware for sharing her
views. This talk wii be very helpful for our students who are planning to work in
Power Plant as well as for internship at major industries.
Vote of thanks for this valuable and informative talk was proposed by Mr. Sushant Soni, ET&T 6th
sem.
Annual fest
Annual Tech Fest and fun game "KAUSHALAM" was organised in the premises of
GEC BILASPUR from 16th March to 18th March 2019. The students of GEC
Bilaspur and other engineering colleges took participation in various eye-
catching technical events and fun games.
On 19th March the much awaited function of College "Annual Day" was held.
Preparations for the annual function were made a few days in advance.
The program started off with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Shri TPS Arora,
Chairman of ABGEC (Alumni of Bilaspur Government Engineering College) and Preeminent Alumini,
Special Guest Shri Sudhir Gupta ,Secretary,ABGEC, Shri Rohit Kr. Shivhare, Executive Engineer, Shri Sanjay
Sharma, Assistant Engineer Irrigation Department , Dr. B.S Chawla, Principal GEC Bilaspur and the other
dignitaries. Students of College performed cultural activities with impeccable taste in music.
Chief Guest shared few words with all and also encouraged for an overall development of the students through
various extracurricular activities. Dr. G.S Singh organiser of the function detailed the name of the students who
were cream of the crop in various curricular and extra curricular activities. ABGEC gave away prize money of
Rs.5000 to Ayush Jain (Civil Engineering) who notched up top position in academic year 2018-19 which
invigorated other students.
Chief Guest congratulated Principal for his tireless effort to breathe life into college. Dr. M.L Agrawal, Dean
Academics illustrated academic activity of the students. Dr.S.k Singhai,HOD Electrical department, Dr.Seema
Chauhan shedded light on importance of NBA and placement activity respectively.
This program really left a great impact on everyone.
Darpan
GEC Bilaspur inaugurated its first official literary club ‘DARPAN’ On 20 th April
2019 with an aim to improve confidence level, creativity and communication skill
among students. It will be the body responsible for carrying out various events
such as group discussion, mock interview, debate, extempore, creative writing,
quizzes, vocabulary learning, etc which can increase reading, writing, listening,
speaking as well as employability skills of the students.
The invited guest speaker was Dr Sheela Tiwari, former principal of Chouksey Engineering College Bilaspur.
she threw Light on the objectives of literary club, gave some tips on spoken English and told students about the
importance of literature in life.
Dr B S Chawla, Principal GEC Bilaspur, official declared the name of club as ‘DARPAN’ and highlighted its
true meaning with respect to literary club.
