Introduction
Servicing automotive batteries is a crucial aspect of vehicle maintenance to ensure
optimal performance and longevity. Automotive batteries are essential components that
provide the electrical power necessary to start the engine and operate various electrical
systems within the vehicle. Over time, batteries can degrade due to factors such as age,
usage patterns, and environmental conditions. Battery servicing involves several key
tasks aimed at maintaining the battery's health and performance.
Assumptions
• Students have received orientation about service automotive battery..
• The teacher will be familiar with and will utilize correct service skill techniques using
appropriate resources.
• The facility will supply the correct tools and equipment required to complete the activity.
The following Activity Plan is to be completed prior to this Activity Plan
• Workstation Set-up.
Safety Considerations
• Ensure the use of required personal protective equipment.
• Use correct knife cleaning procedures.

SHEET # 1.1-1 TEST AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY
• BATTERY
An automotive battery, or car battery, is a rechargeable battery that is used to
start a motor vehicle. Its main purpose is to provide an electric current to the
electric-powered starting motor, which in turn starts the chemically-powered
internal combustion engine that actually propels the vehicle. Once the engine
is running, power for the car's electrical systems is still supplied by the battery,
with the alternator charging the battery as demands increase or decrease.
