INTRODUCTION ABOUT AGENT GREEN

Definition: Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the environment, on individual, organizational or governmental level, for the benefit of the natural environment and humans. Due to the pressures of population and our technology the biophysical environment is being degraded, sometimes permanently. This has been recognized and governments began placing restraints on activities that caused environmental degradation. Since the 1960s activism by the environmental movement has created awareness of the various environmental issues. Academic institutions now offer courses such as environmental studies, environmental management and environmental engineering that study the history and methods of environmental protection. Protection of the environment is needed from various human activities. Waste, pollution, loss ofbiodiversity, introduction of invasive species, release of genetically modified organisms and toxics are some of the issues relating to environmental protection.1 Agent Green association is a non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) of "watchdog" type. This means that its purpose is to guard and protect the enviroment from the ones that are damaging it by any ways. The association stands for the Environmental Protection and has been established in March 2009 by its manager Gabriel Paun out of love and respect for the environment in which we, the people, belong and that helped us to develop what we have nowadays. This NGO is adressing to the ones that are sensitive towards nature and want to help by any means. They are allerting this people when the Government or some companies and organizations are acting against the public interest. They are actively involving the volunteers in the environmental protection campaigns which are strongly publicized with the help of the sponsors.

PROJECTS
Agent Green is performing according to the organization's areas of interest and are only limited by the skills of the people involved and by the funds. They are always open to new campaigns that people think are important for the environment and encourage their proposals.

The campaigns:

Protejarea Peisajului Forestier Intact Retezat (The protection of PFI)

Targets: - full protection by law of PFI by including its entire territory in Natura 2000 sites and in protected natural areas with management structures and management plans which consider PFI criteria. - increase locally, nationally and internationally the public awareness regarding the PFI values and the need to contribute to its conservance. - stopping the activities with negative impact on PFI. - recognition of ecotourism as a priority of the development strategies of cities in the surroundings of PFI.

STOP invaziei OMG (STOP the invasion of GMO)

Recently, in laboratories have been created through genetic engineering new life forms called GMOs (genetically modified organisms). GMOs can only be obtained in the laboratory by forcing the genes between different species and even between different kingdoms. This natural evolution of species that lasts for millions of years was halted and the humans destroyed the barriers between them within only a few years. Globally, a number of 254 cases of GMO contamination and illegal cultivation have been recorded by 2009. Thus, the coexistence of conventional and organic crops with GMO is impossible. Growing GMO erodes the freedom of choice of the farmers to refuse cultivating GMO and the consumers to avoid the food containing GMO. According to Eurobarometers, the vast majority of Europeans oppose to GMO. A survey conducted in Romania at national level in 2007 shows that 67% of the romanians do not want GMO in their food.

Nu m clca pe CO2 (Green my light) Objectives: Reducing carbon dioxide emissions in Romania and improving environmental quality through education, public awareness and stimulating the people to purchase energy efficient products and have a responsible attitude towards the environment. To meet these objectives, all campaigns will have four main components: lobbying, media, market and awareness.

Primvar pentru Piatra Craiului (Spring for Piatra Craiului)

Agent Green believes that spring is a good time to try pilot reforestation in an area affected by the cuts and where natural regeneration is not possible. In addition to all other negative effects from this desolate landscape eco-tourism attractiveness decreases affecting local communities who could earn a living from such activities. Agent Green carefully assess areas where planting will take place and the choice of species of flora which will be used. The planted area is going to be monitorized after the completion of work to identify potential problems and to evaluate the opportunity of new plantings in these areas in subsequent years. With financial support of Apemin Tunad Partnership Foundation and

the program "Partnership for the Environment" they will be able to mobilize 15 volunteers to assist in planting. Park Administration will provide necessary tools and seedlings.

Agent 00green

Agent 00green, the campaign logo of the organization, aims to decrease the number of assaults on the environment by investigating and publishing environmental crimes in order to remedy the situation. It is a campaign in which public involvement, mass media, celebrities, companies and especially partnerships are essential. Objectives: -Decreasing the number of assaults on the environment and increasing the number of solved cases; -Improving of the cooperation between authorities, NGO and the public to reduce environmental crime. This project is developed in partnership with Save the Danube and the Delta Partnership and funded by the Foundation and Trust for Civil Society in Central & Eastern Europe.

Fantastic fara plastic (Fantastic without plastic) In Romania are consumed 5 billion plastic bags per year, which becomes waste in the shortest time. Most plastic bags end up stored in the wrong place, unfortunately, like thrown on the streets, in drains, in rivers, in the green spaces and in nature where they can persist for hundreds of years. Annually more than 100,000 marine animals and birds die suffocated by discarded plastic in nature. The objectives of the "Fantastic without Plastic" are: -Eco entry fee for non-biodegradable bags according to standardized European EN 13432 and EN 13432 SR Romanian; -Consumer awareness of the negative effects of plastic bags on environment; -ban plastic bags; -achieve an agreement with retail stores to distribute biodegradable bags.

FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT
Planning

It is the first of the four functions of management, and it means foreseeing future circumstances and requirements, setting objectives and making long and short term plans. It also involves making a systematic process for achieving the organizations goals. Strategic planning is the process of developing and analyzing the organizations mission, overall goals, general strategies and allocating resources. The process of planning usually follows these steps: 1.Defining the organizations mission (purpose of the organization) and vision (the future goal or achievement of an organization). 2.Swot analysis analyzes the strengths, weaknesses and identifies the opportunities and threats of the organization. 3.Setting goals (the things that the organization strives to achieve) and objectives (statements describing results and the way in which they will be achieved). 4.Developing a strategy 5.Implementing a strategy (by developing programs, budgets and procedures). 6.Evaluating and control.

Organizing

It includes the identification and classification of the required activities, the grouping of activities necessairy to attain objectives, the assignment of each grouping to a manager with authority and the provision of coordination. Each organization has an organizational structure, which includes: division of labor, delegation of authority, departmentation, span of control and coordination. Division of labor:

The span of control of the NGO Agent Green is made out of 7 employees, each of them being paid per project. Their salaries are being received from the funds and sponsorizations. The others that are actively participating to the projects are volunteers and they are changing quite often, being mostly students that work only for some periods.

Leading

Leading (or directing) is the process of influencing people so that they will contribute to the organization and group goals. It involves the initiation of action and it entails three elements that are action oriented in nature: motivation, communication and leadership.

Controlling

Controlling is the function of every manager both at lower and upper level since they all have responsibility for the execution of plans. Steps to be followed in this function of management: 1.Establish standards (criteria used by managers to measure performance since managers cannot usually watch everything being done within an organization). 2.Measure performance (to detect deviations in advance of their occurance and avoid them by appropriate actions).

CONCLUSIONS
Our natural environment is something that we must forever take care of, treasure and respect. Unfortunately, we only have one planet, one earth, one environment and if we ruin it, we risk destroying it forever and causing irreversible damage that will be devastating for us and our generation but even more so for the future generations that haven't had a chance to live, experience and enjoy what we have. There are many things that each of us can to do help protect our environment and reduce the impact that our life styles and way of living has on the environment. If we each do our bit for the environment, no matter how small, we can create a positive reversal on negative impact. By becoming more environmentally aware and through reducing each of our own carbon footprints, we can minimize the detrimental effect we have on our world. What can we do in our quest for looking after our environment? We can all look after our environment and do things to become more environmentally friendly. One of the easiest and basic means of becoming more environmentally considerate is to REUSE, REDUCE and RECYCLE. Recycling is a very basic but important action that everyone should adopt now. In the wake of global warming right now, it is important that we recycle. The needs to recycle is base on the fact that our natural resources are diminishing .If we do not recycle, factories will have to process the raw material and this will result in more heat release into the environment. A very basic way to recycle is to separate our rubbish into papers, metal and glass. Others waste such as food can be use to make compose. Besides recycling, we will also reuse thing that can be use again such as food containers and shopping bags. It's paramount that we take care of our environments at every level, starting within our neighbor hoods and up to global levels. So many examples abound of environmental destruction, but of importance are the remedies. Charity begins at home; everyone has a role to play, from our homes to the streets to our schools and even the parks. Let's keep our homes clean and dump the refuse correctly. No one should litter and plastics should be disposed of correctly -- even recycled. Community initiatives on environment protection should be put into effect. This is where the media sensitizes the public on environment issues. Also non-profits and the public sector should work hand in hand to protect and also educate the public on the environment. The youth too should take the initiative through their schoolwork and club awareness. Volunteers are also called upon to protect the environment by doing anything they can to prevent further degradation. This can be through planting trees, educating the public and holding cleaning exercises from time to time.
