Time Period Covered Date From: 01/29/12 To: 02/05/12 Summary of Incidents: Date 01/29/12 Day Sun Time 0801 Details: Traffic Crime Complaint about road construction crew using poor traffic control procedures. Taxi Violation Officer advised a taxi driver to take her vehicle out of service after finding that she had proof of neither current registration nor insurance. Ambulance Request EMS personnel conducted a brief medical exam of a drunken woman who had allegedly cut her wrist. No injuries of any sort were found. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted EMS personnel. Traffic Roads Disabled vehicle with muddy man underneath, blocking roadway. DUI Reginald I. Beggen, 33 yoa, was arrested for Driving under the Influence. Warrant Arrest A man arrested by another agency was booked into UDPS facilities. Ambulance Request EMS personnel responded to assist a person in need of medical attention from a passing ship. Forgery Caller from Colorado reported that someone in Unalaska appeared to be using his identity. An officer advised the identity theft victim that a records check determined that in 2000, a man had been arrested in Unalaska and charged under the Colorado residents identity; the fraud was later discovered and the man was charged with additional crimes. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport to a patient. 01/30/12 Mon 1511 Harassment A woman received several phone calls in which an unidentified caller breathed heavily and made harassing statements. Harassment A man who was tired of being called names by a neighbor reported the problem to both police and the neighbors employer. The neighbors employer was already handling the matter when an officer arrived. Medevac Welfare Check Third-hand report of possibly suicidal intentions on the part of another person. An officer contacted the person in question and determined there was no cause for alarm. Suspicious Person/Activity Pedestrian suspected the driver of a small car of smoking dope, as a suspicious odor was emanating from the cars open windows. Officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle and found no recently consumed drugs. The driver was cited for Open Container. Drunk Disturbance A drunken man reported a fight involving multiple other inebriates at the Grand Aleutian Hotel. Officers arrived to find, after wading through testimony from a dozen people, sober and otherwise, that the original caller had in fact instigated most of the problems about which he was complaining. Liquor Law Violation Officer advised a bar patron he needed to remove himself from the premises as he was well and clearly drunk. Traffic Roads Public Works notified of road conditions and damaged signage. Animal Petite piles of poo promulgated by pets prompted a protest to police. Warrant Arrest - A man arrested by another agency was booked into UDPS facilities. Traffic Roads - Public Works notified of road conditions. Assistance Rendered Officer returned to an employer some baggage that had been left at the clinic by a patient.

Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to quite unpleasant weather resulting in difficult driving conditions. Traffic Roads - Public Works notified of road conditions. Burn Permit Assistance Rendered Vehicle unlock. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care to a man who had slipped on ice and injured himself. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted EMS personnel. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport who had been struck by a container van and had fallen a significant distance. Assistance Rendered - Officer assisted EMS personnel. Assistance Rendered Vehicle unlock. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to continued weather potentially deleterious to safe driving. Public Safety A man who was peeved about the amount of snow pushed against his home by road crews vented his frustration by rolling large snow boulders into the roadway. An officer advised against this course of action and helped the perturbed citizen remove said boulders from the road. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted the driver of a disabled vehicle. PC-Mental Officer assisted EMS personnel with a patient in severe mental distress. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport to a patient in severe mental distress.

02/02/12 02/02/12 02/02/12 Thu Thu Thu 1330 1340 1442 Domestic Civil Service Civil papers served. Animal Pet poop prompted another protest to police. Medevac Traffic Crime Caller reported being cut off by an erratic driver; the suspect but quite sober driver turned himself in at the police station and stated he had simply passed a vehicle which he believed was disabled at an intersection. Assistance Rendered Clinic staff requested assistance with a woman who was undressing herself in the clinic waiting area. Assistance Rendered - Officer assisted the driver of a disabled vehicle. Assault Processing plant employee reported being in fear for his life after being pushed in the chest and receiving a mean look from a coworker. Officers learned that language barriers and unfamiliarity with plant equipment had prompted the alleged altercation. Theft Taxi passenger and taxi driver argued for an unreasonable amount of time about a lost and then found wallet which the passenger had falsely accused the driver of taking. Officers mediated the situation. PC-Alcohol An extremely intoxicated and uncooperative man was taken into protective custody after it became clear he was unable to care for himself. Public Safety - Category 1 travel advisory issued due to continued weather potentially deleterious to safe driving. Assistance Rendered Vehicle unlock. Ambulance Request EMS was dispatched to a medical call. Assistance Rendered Officer provided no assistance to EMS personnel. MVA Damage A driver traveling down an icy slope was unable to stop and struck another vehicle which was stopped on the road and waiting to turn. Damage to the two vehicles was significant; only minor injuries were reported.

Lost Property A Motorola cell phone, at the CEM dock. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted clinic personnel with a mentally unstable and uncooperative patient. Traffic Crime Speeding complaint. Traffic Roads Public Works notified of road conditions. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport to a man whose legs had been crushed by a 1600-pound pallet. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted EMS personnel with a patient. MVA Damage Driver who lives on an extremely icy road reported sliding backwards down the road and striking a parked vehicle en route to the bottom of the hill. Due to the inordinately slick conditions the responding officer was unable even to walk to the parked vehicle to assess damages. Under investigation. Assist Other Agency Unused narcotics turned over to police for destruction. MVA Damage Caller reported her windshield was cracked by gravel thrown up by a City vehicle. Public Safety Category 1 travel advisory issued due to extremely hazardous, icy conditions on all secondary roads. Assistance Rendered Officers attempted to help a driver whose vehicle was stuck on an icy road, but were unable to do so due to the total lack of traction in the area. Traffic Roads - Public Works notified of road conditions. Traffic Roads - Public Works notified of road conditions. Weapons A search of the UDPS jail turned up two small weapons which had been manufactured by a

Medevac Animal A dog, which had made itself at home in a processing plant galley, was impounded and lodged in far less tasty digs. Medevac Harassment Woman reported receiving several nonthreatening messages from an unidentified and unwanted caller over the last five months, and asked to have her complaint documented should she decide to pursue charges at a later date. Lost Property Black leather wallet with ID and cash, possibly at the PCR. Ambulance Request EMS personnel provided care and transport for a woman with severe asthma. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted EMS personnel.
