Measuring Tools
1.ZIG-ZAG RULE
-A zig-zag rule is a folding ruler that can measure places where a tape scale
cannot.
2. TRY SQUARE
-A woodworking tool used for marking and checking 90° angles on pieces of
wood.
3. PUSH-PULL RULE
- A flexible measuring device used to gauge the length, width, and depth of
various materials.
Cutting Tools
1. AXE
-is used in traditional woodwork, joinery, and logbuilding.
2. KNIFE
-is commonly used for sharpening carpenter’s pencils, as well as cutting
various materials such as wood.
3. CHISEL
- is a shaped cutting edge on the end of its blade, for carving or cutting a
hard material.
Lining Tools
1.Carpenters’ pencils
-are tools used to mark wood and are usually made of wood with a graphite
core often known as the “lead”.
2. A chalk line or chalk box
-is a tool for marking long, straight lines on relatively flat surfaces, much
farther than is practical by hand or with a straightedge.
3. AWL
-is a pointed tool for marking surfaces or piercing small holes (as in leather or
wood).
Driving tools
1. A ball-peen also known as a machinist's hammer, is a type of peening
hammer used in metalworking
2. A claw hammer is a hammer primarily used in carpentry for driving nails into
or pulling them from wood.
