BLOOD OF PURITY

By Sam Rhodes, Richards Slesers, Annabel Hales, Christie Bradshaw

PLOT.
Based on article .. in which an artist became obsessed with the theory of The Three Graces; the three representations of purity. To achieve this, he abducts woman and tries to purity them for the satisfaction of his sick obsession. He tried to strip back their modern impurity to leave them only with purity. Sadly his artistic techniques are to savage for art these days since his techniques involve inflicting pain upon

his victims.

MISE-EN-SCENE: COSTUME
Girls- White underwear with white silk 1920s bath robes, white for the representation of purity. Artist- Dirty artist apron, spattered with blood and paint.

MES-EN-SCENE: LIGHTING
Aritst: Dark lighting, representing him as evil. With a dark amber tinge over the top, like a dark room lighting in a photography suit. With flickering lights to represent his temperamental mind. With the girls, a very bright, white colors representing purity and innocence. These two lightings contrast each other and would exclaim the

differing representations of good and evil.

MISE-EN-SCNE:ACTING
The artist will mainly be shown to be drawing, including mistakes where he aggressively scratches his paper to rub out the mistake. The actor needs to be scatty/all over the place; this relates to some form of mental disability. The girls are victims so need to be in a fragile state, frightened and defensive. There will be the dramatics of screaming and crying.

MISE-EN-SCENE:MAKE -UP
Artist- The artists make-up will make him appear dirty. It will be smudges of paint, blood and charcoal on his face. Making him seem more undesirable and dirty. His hands will appear not to have been washed from day to day. The girls will need to look pure, clean and fresh faced. So no make-up will be required. The only make-up will need to be their

injuries e.g blood, cuts and grazes.

MISE-EN-SCENE:SETTING
The three girls and the artist will never be shown in the same room. Artist- The artists location does not need to be specified. The lighting will make the audience aware of the differing locations.

The girls location will be in a white, clinical yet old and rusty looking
room. With an old fashioned style bed with white linin sheets. Within the room will be a sink with an old mirror above it. Preferably a window within the room so the light will be natural to create this idea of pure

light.

MISE-EN-SCENE: PROPS
Artist: Sketch pad, paint brushes, charcoal, pencil, art books, image of the three graces, basin of water. Girls: Bed, sheets, glass of water, mirror.

PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
Our thriller opening sequence relates to the psychological thriller genre because it focuses on the unstable mental state of the artist. It overlaps with the horror genre as it is quite disturbing. There is a lot of suspense. It is all about the weak girls being empowered by a mentally unstable male artist who wants to make them pure again.
