Introduction and Structure

Infotype
An Infotype is a group of object-based pieces of information on a particular
area. The data stored in an infotype is always based on the personnel
number of an employee.
An Infotype is recognized by a four digit number.
Infotype Concepts:
Subtype - are used to subdivide infotype records. They subdivide infotype data
by subject matter, which makes it easier for you to access and manage
information

Introduction
Time Constraint Can one be present and absent at the same time ? NO.
But SAP allows to create data with validity period, which might lead to data
conflicts. To control such inconsistencies in data, Time Constraints are used.

Introduction
Additional text Additional text can be permitted or prohibited at infotype
level.
Fast Entry - The fast entry of master data function enables to simultaneously
create and edit the same infotype or subtype record for more than one
employee.
Lock/Unlock Helps to achieve a 2 step data entry process. One enters the
data, other approves it. Unlock access can be handled through
authorizations.
Reason for Change Several Infotype have the field Reason for Change.
Pre-defined reason could be selected while changing an Infotype record

Structure
Infotype Structure
Each Infotype consists of atleast 2 structures and one database table.
Structure PSnnnn - contains all of the infotype data fields
Structure Pnnnn - contains infotype key fields and all of the data fields from
structure PSnnnn .
Transparent table Pannnn -Transparent table PAnnnn is required if you want
to use an infotype within Personnel Administration.

Infotype Screens

Infotype header
It is a set of fields that is displayed when an infotype record is accessed. For
Eg.: When any PA infotype is accessed, the header portion usually displays
details like Personnel No, Name, Personnel Area etc. Header contents can
be customised
Infotype Menu
Displays a logically grouped list of Infotypes under different tabs. The list could
differ for different set of end-users.

Infotype Screen
Table T588M makes it easy to slightly vary an infotype screen or to define an
alternative screen.

Concepts
Personnel Action
Any important life cycle activity processed on an employee, which needs
keeping tab of, can be executed using Personnel Action in SAP HR.
Important concepts
Personnel number Unique 9 digit number assigned to every employee
which doesnt change during the entire lifecycle of the employee.

should the Personnel number be allotted. Different ranges for various
Personnel Areas is possible. Also, Internal and External ranges are

Data maintained through Actions Personnel Area, Employee group
and subgroup can be changed only through actions and not through
PA 30.
Integration with OM Screen while running an action is affected by
PA integration with OM. Position field is allowed for population only
if integration is configured ( Value of PLOGI ORG as X in table
V_T77S0)

Infogroup Sequential list of Infotypes that need to changes/created

while executing an Action is stored in Infogroup.
Action Menu Just like Infotype Menu we have Action Menu. UGR
dependency is available for configuration. There is one more
concept called Info group Modifier, which uses validation on group
of employees

Additional Action
SAP does not allow storing two infotype record of Time Constraint 1 on
the same day, because it would be mean the delimitation date for
both will be the same. In this case first Infotype record would be
overwritten by the latter one.
Hence Additional Action
Infotype 0302 used to capture additional/multiple actions on same
day. This infotype cannot be maintained directly, but it is located for
viewing at the bottom of the Actions infotype. Report RPUEVSUP is
to be executed.

Dynamic Action
Dynamic Action feature in SAP HR is provided to call another Infotype
while processing one Infotype.
Important fields
Infotype, Subtype, Field name, sequence number are self
explanatory
Function Character of step determines on what condition of infotype,
should the dynamic action be run

Indicator for step this field gives meaning to the next column,
variable function part

Variable function part What the step is supposed to do is defined
