Peninsula Railway (GIPR).

RPF(Railway Protection Force)


The Railway Protection Force (RPF ) is a security
force of India entrusted with protecting railway
passengers, passenger area and railway property of
the Indian Railways .
The Force is commonly referred as RPF. The Force is
under the authority of Ministry of Railways (India) .
The strength of RPF is about 65,000. RPF is headed by Director General who is
usually an Indian Police Service officer.

Innovation in Personnel Management undoubtedly will


help the Indian Railways achieve greater heights.
However, without necessary Reforms & Changes in
the Functioning of the Organization, the HR
department will be handicapped.

Developments in Railways

1. Indian Railways will soon have the AC coaches


powered by solar energy.
2. 67 new express trains to be introduced; 27
passenger trains, 8 DEMUs.
3. Railways will use Aadhar data base for bookings
and validation of passengers.
4. SMS alert service being rolled out shortly to
intimate passengers about reservation status.
5. Free Wi-Fi facility to be provided in select trains.
6. 47,000 vacancies for weaker sections and
physically challenged to be filled up soon.
