In this section I would like to show you ten

phrasal verbs that are going to be


explained.

Here we have ten phrasal verbs that are going to be explained.


1- KEEP ON: when someone says keep on, it means that the activity you are making
needs to be developed without stopping.
Example: George, do your homework!!!! You have to keep on doing it, if you want to
learn.

2- GIVE UP: It is when you do not surrender, facing a challenge or a proof, at school or in
daily life.
Example: It is a difficult exercise, but do it anyway; do not give up!!!!!! Just go for it.

3- GO UP: If something goes up, it means that the amount or quantity is higher or is
growing.
Example: The weather is hot, so temperature has been going up so far this week.

4- GET UP: It is when you rise from the bed. You finish night and you leave the bed.
Example: Jim, get up!!! We are late for school, the bus is about to be here to pick us
up!!!!!

5- CALL BACK: If you call someone back, it means that you return the calling to them.
Example: Could you call back tomorrow?

6- EAT OUT: When you eat out , it means that you do not eat at home as usually. You will
do it in a restaurant.
Example: Sandy, would you like to eat out tonight with me?

7- CLOSE DOWN: If a place is closed down, it is it will not be opened anymore.


Example: The Factory closed down last year because of the high prices in oil.

8- GET OFF: It is to descend from the bus.


Example: Jimmy this is Main Street, so we have to get of here.

9- GET ON WITH: When you get on with, it means that you work in a good way with
someone else.
Example: I like to work with work mates, we always get on with.

10- GET THROUGH TO: It is when you are successful into getting a phone call to establish
comunication into a particular place.
Example: My boss asked me to call the new manufacturer office last week, I told him that I
could not get through to.
