MAY BAGYO MAY MAY RILIM (1605)

May bagyo ma't, may rilim
ang ola'y, titigisin,
ako'y, magpipilit din:
aking paglalakbayin
tuluyin kong hanapin
Diyos na ama namin.
Kung di man magupiling
tuksong mabaw-mabawin,
ako'y, mangangahas din:
itong libro'y, basahin,
at dito ko hahanguin
aking sasandatahin.

Kung dati mang nabulag

akoy, pasasalamat,
na ito ang liwanag:
Diyos ang nagpahayag
sa Padreng nagsiwalat
nitong mabuting sulat.
Nagiwa mat nabagbag
daluyong matataas,
akoy magsusumikad,
babaguhin ang lakas:
dito rin hahagilap
timbulang ikaligtas.

Kung lumpo mat kung pilay,

anong di ikahakbang;
na ito ang aakay,
magtuturo ng daan;
tungkod ay inilaang
sukat pagkatibayan.

THOUGH IT IS STORMY AND

DARK
Though it is stormy and dark,
Ill strain my tearful plaints
And struggle onIll set out voyage
And persist in my search
For God our Father.

Though it doesnt sleep a wink,

This temptation bearing down on me,
Still will I dare
To read this book,
And from it, draw
The weapon Ill wield.
Having lost my sight the past.
Im giving Thanks
For this Light
Which God let shine
Upon the priest who has made known
This noble book.

Though tossed and dashed

By huge waves,
Ill trash my legs
And renew my strengthIn this [book] will I grasp
For the buoy that saves.

Though disabled and imping,

Nothing can hold back my steps,
For this [book] will take me by the hand
And show me the wayThe staff was prepared
To give me strength.

Moral Lesson
Dont lose hope
If theres a will, theres a way
Have faith in God
Nothing is impossible with God
