What is a Digital Voltmeter?

A Voltmeter is an instrument used for

measuring the electrical potential
difference between two points in an
electric circuit. Analog voltmeter
moves a pointer across a scale in
proportion to the voltage of the
circuit;Digital voltmetergives a
numerical display of voltage by use of
an analog to digital converter

What is a Analog to Digital Converter?

What are the components of a

Digital Voltmeter?
Digital voltmeters(DVMs) are usually designed
around a special type of analog-to-digital converter
called an integrating converter.
Digital voltmetersalways have input amplifiers, and,
generally have a constant input resistance of 10 mega
ohms regardless of set measurement range. Voltmeter
accuracy is affected by many factors, including
temperature and supply voltage variations. To make
sure that adigital voltmetersreading is within the
manufactures specified tolerances, they should be
periodically calibrated against a voltage standard such
as Weston cell. Weston cell is awet-chemical cell that
produces a highly stable voltage suitable as a
laboratory standard for calibration of voltmeters.
