The Main Problem
The school district is having a money crisis and
would like to cut back on daily expenses. Your
class has been ask to propose ways the school
could save money on energy costs. What
would be some reasonable suggestions?
How much money is being spent on
energy?

The amount of money that is being spent is

about $1,090,095 for seven schools. For one
school it is about $70,000 a year. Most
energy comes from the use of lights.
What Can We Do To
Conserve Energy?
Work as a group students, teachers, staff,
and other people.
Seal air leaks because losing hot and cold air
wastes energy.
Turn off lights, computers and other things
using energy when they arent needed.
Install skylights so you can use natural light
instead of lights that use energy.
Where do we get our
Energy?
We get our energy from many different
sources. Some of our energy comes from coal
mines. Some of our energy comes from
windmills that produce electricity. Solar power
also produces energy. These are some of the
places we get our energy from.
Dear Principal,
We should conserve energy in this school,
some ways are turning things off when they
arent being used. We spend lots of money on
energy and this would be better for our school.
