University of

California: Berkeley
By: Isaac Perez
Reasoning
UC Berkeley is great because:
It is placed in a great location

Has my desired majors

An amazing graduation ratio

A suitable amount and diversity of students

Location
Small, sub-urban city
For convenience

Nature feeling campus

Spaces between buildings

Plots of grass and trees

Between a miniature mountain range and the San Francisco Bay

10 miles away from San Francisco

Distance from home is not preferable

Over 460 miles away
Majors of CA Berkeley
I was looking for and found:

Chemical Engineering (doctoral)

Engineering Physics (bachelors)

Statistics (doctoral)

Materials Science (doctoral)

Majors I was not looking for but am now interested in:

Demography and Population Studies (doctoral)

Psychology (doctoral)
Acceptance and Graduation Rates
Getting accepted is difficult:

85% incoming freshmen with 3.75+ GPA

SAT mid-range: 1310-1530

ACT Composite mid-range: 29-34

77,660 applied, 11,891 accepted: 15% acceptance rate

But 91% graduate within 6 years

So, there is a 13.65% chance one would be accepted and graduate

Students in Attendance
27,496 undergraduates

17:1 student-faculty ratio

35% Asian, 27% White, 14% Hispanic/Latino, 24% other classifications

85% in-state, 15% out-of-state

52% females, 48% males

Extremely diverse housing

Coed, mens, womens, married, single, disabled, international, themed

The people there are probably more similar to me and would be easier for me to
get along with.
Conclusion
The University of California Berkeley has exactly what I
wanted from a college. A great location, the majors I am
looking for, high standards, and a great student body. The
one turn off I see is how far away it is from here, which is a
very important topic for me. Otherwise, its a great school
that is definitely worth applying to.
