NORM OF A VECTOR

AND UNITARY VECTOR

NORM OF A VECTOR
A norm of a vector if is informally a measure of the legth of
Y2
the vector. According to the diagram the legs are the
components and the hypotenuse is the arrow itself, so deal the (X2,Y2)

Pythagorean theorem.

This would be the distance between the points that define

UNIT VECTOR
A unit vector is a vector of magnitude 1, it's also called
direction vector. Its directions is the same of a given
vector.
By convention, a unit vector is represented
by a letter marked with a circumflex. The
circumflex is an accent mark that appears
above the letter. It looks like an inverted
v and is typically referred to as a hat.

The principal function

of the vector is the
orientation given by
this vector.
NORMALIZATION
Normalizing refers to the process of making something standard or, well, normal. In
the case of vectors, lets assume for the moment that a standard vector has a length
of 1. To normalize a vector, therefore, is to take a vector of any length and, keeping it
pointing in the same direction, change its length to 1, turning it into what is called
a unit vector.
u is a vector unit if =1 or equivalent, if u*u=1 so

If v is a vector of components (3, 4), find a unit vector in the same direction.
