 What is V2V ???

Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) is an automobile technology designed

to allow automobiles to talk to each other i.e.,to communicate
with each other .

It is worked on base of dedicated short range communication (DSRC).

 HISTORY

Mainly it is motivated by ITS( Intelligent Transport System ).

According to World Health Organization (WHO) , road

accidents annually cause approximately 1.2 million deaths
worldwide.

Also about 50 million person are injured in traffic accidents.

Western Europe a mere 5km/h decrease in average vehicle

speeds could result in 25de% crease in deaths.

To reduce the accidents.

To reduce the time of travel.

Extended driving vision.

To help others in making their drive comfort.

 Working of v2v

A mesh network is a local area network .

Wireless local area network .

V2V is nothing about full mesh topology .

In a full mesh , topology , each network node is connected directly to
each of the others.
Overview of smart vehicle
 TERMS
EDR-
used in vehicles to resister all important parameters such as velocity,
acceleration, etc.
Especially during abnormal situation, such as accidents.
this data is used for reconstruction.

FORWARD RADAR-
used to detect any forward obstacles as far as 200 meters.

POSITIONING SYSTEM-
used to locate vehicles.
Accuracy can be improved by knowledge of road topology

Computing platform-
Inputs from various components is used to generate useful information.
 VEHICLES PARAMETER

There are two types of parameters : Static and Dynamic

Static Parameters:
The static parameter indicates the size of the vehicle and the location of
its GPS receiver within itself

Dynamic parameters:
The dynamic parameters are vehicles position, speed acceleration,
direction and the status of the brakes, steering wheel, gas paddle, turn
signal etc.
 CLASSES OF INFORMATION
Movement Related speed ,velocity, acceleration, etc.

Traffic Related number of vehicles , traffic volume, density, congestion.

Passenger Related- weather related information.

 FEATURES

The main feature are

Speed of the vehicle .

Break status.

Path status .

Path indication.
The other features are:

It gives the indication in the form of vibrating the seat, voice or display . It
specifies the features for a range of 1000m.

The personal information will not be revealed.

Emergency electronic break light warning (if there is sudden braking

from the front vehicle .

Blind spot warning .

Signal timing and phase are known.

 FUTURE

At present development of first generation of v2v system is underway .

Function of these system is limited only up to giving warning to the driver
. However, these system are unable to take any corrective action in the
input given by the driver.

The second generation of vehicle to vehicle system would be able

to take control of vehicle in danger and provide the corrective action.
These system would ultimately merge with the autonomous driving
technology.
 ADVANTAGES

By this technology , peoples drive will be more comfortable and

easier.

The case of accidents will be very less.

Any problem occurred by one in driving will be informed to others so

they can be aware of it while driving.
 Disadvantages

Any small occur in the working of v2v will leads to the total
disturbance of the ones driving.

Some times signals given by it will not be correct.

 Applications
Safety related: Collision avoidance, cooperative merging ,etc.

Incident report: dissemination of data regarding accidents on

the network or breakdown /blockage of a link ,etc.

Route guidance: en-route guidance about the shortest path,

route guidance for gasstations, etc.

Miscellaneous: green light prediction, parking space

availability,etc.
 Conclusion

The technology of the V2V is one of the boon to the automobile

industry and the people .

As if now it is a prototype . It will be more easier and helpful once it

came to existence for the people for their smooth drive experience.
