annoyance,
Ex:
Jhon sees Toni buy a few packs of
cigarettes almost every day. Yesterday,
jhon just found out that Toni did not
smoke.
Jhon said,”Don’t you smoke? I thought
you did”(surprised)
X promised Y that he would come to her
house on Saturday night but he did not. He
told her that he forgot about the promise.

Y said, “ Didn’t you remember our date?”


(disappointment)

P is having a lot of troubles at work. Q one


of her co –workers is asking her a lot
questions about her problems. She doesn’t
stop asking her.

P says, “ Won’t you stop asking me


questions?”(annoyance)

Ex: Do you not like their house?
Short form : auxilary + not+ subject + verb
Ex : Don’t you like their new house?
