The Truth

In this sense, the truth supposes the


agreement between what we affirm with
what is known, felt or thought. Hence, the
concept of truth also encompasses values
such as honesty, sincerity and openness.

 The truth as correspondence. The truth


consists of a relationship of adequacy or
agreement between knowledge and
reality. It is true that "what is known" or
"what is said" corresponds to the facts.

The specialists also point out that when a
person says a lie, he usually shows
certain corporal indications such as:
 the body leans forward, slightly.

 The truth as consensus. This theory


highlights the importance of free
dialogue, an agreement, clean of
coercion and Interests.

 The truth as a value. The "truth" is


considered as an ethical value, since it
gives meaning to Respect to the others, it
is one of the basic pillars on which the
moral conscience of the community is
based and covers all areas of human life.

 Truth as coherence. A proposition is true


if it is consistent with the rest of the
propositions of the system of which it is
a part.

 The pragmatic truth. A proposition is


true if it is useful, effective, if it works or
is demonstrated in practice, or if it is
verifiable. (In science, truth is what has
not been shown to be false).
