THANKS

I would like to Thanks my all the guideliner

Mr.Darshan Singh,Mr.Jagdeep Ram,Mr.Rishi
Raj,Mr.Ram Swarath &Mr.Ramrachpal who help me
in my training to know about the each equipment of
the Xchange and also thanks to the honourable
teacher’s our E.C.E Department.
C-DOT or Central development of
telemetric

The Center for Development of Telemetric (C-DOT) is

the telecom technology development center of the
government. It was established in August 1984 as an
autonomous body.It was vested with full authority
and total flexibility to develop state-of-the-art
telecommunication technology to meet the needs of
the Indian telecommunication network. The key
objective was to build a center for excellence in the
area of telecom technology.
Organization of Central Development
of Telemetric.

The C-dot section work on three major

parts of this section.They are:-

1.CM-Center Module
2.BM-Base Module
BM-Base Module system

In 1 BM there are 6 frames. Each frame has 26 slots or

cards.Each card is arranged as:-
First and last two cards are for Power Supply.
Cards from 3-10 or 17-24 number cards are LCC-Line
circuit card.each card operate 8 numbers.So a frame
can operate 128 Telephone number at a time.11,15
card is TIC-Terminal Interface controller.12,16 card is
SPC-Signaling Processing card.13,14 card is TUI-
Terminal unit Interface.
Function of BM-Base Module

1.Interface to digital trunks and digital subscriber.

2.Switching the calls between terminals connected to the
same Base Module.
3.Communication with the AM via the CM for
administrative functions (i.e. Call processing).
4.Provision of special circuits for call processing
support.
5.Tones, announcement, MF/DTMF Senders/receivers.
6. Provision for local switching Unit as well as in case of
CM-Center Module

It is the major part of the C-DOT.Central module is

responsible for space switching of inter-Base Module
calls, communication between Base Module and
Administrative Modules, clock distribution and network
synchronization. For these function central module has a
Space Switch, Space Switch Controller, an Administrative
Processor and a Central Message Switches CMS (A, B, C,
and D). In a 32 Base Module configuration, there are 64
bit parallel buses carrying the voice information from
Base Module to the Central Module, and also the
Switched information in the reverse direction. It is of two
types:-CM-Large &CM-Xtra Large.
Function of CM-L & CM-XL

CM-L:- 1.There are one BTU(Base Terminal Unit) and one SSU(Space Switch Unit).
2. The 8 MHz clock may be locally generated at the Space Switch Clock (SSK) card in
CM-L. Or may be derived by using Network Synchronization Equipment (NSE) in this.
 3. In CM-L, CM provides connectivity to 16 BMs.
 4. Each message switch is a high performance message routing block, implemented
by using high speed 16 bit microprocessor Motorola Company.
CM-XL:- 1. There are two BTU and two SSU.
  2. The 8 MHz clock may be locally generated at the Central Clock (CCK) Card in CM-
XL. Or may be derived by using Network Synchronization Controller Card.
 3. In CM-XL, CM provides connectivity to 32 BMs.
 4. Each message switch is a high performance message routing block,
implemented by using high speed 16 bi microprocessor Motorola Company (MC).
MDF-Main Distribution frame

Main Distribution frame is a section of exchange

where all the calls connected first at the exchange
side when we call someone. Then the call goes next to
the person to which we call.It is also called the fault
finding & removing area because all the faults
occurred in any number are find & remove here with
T.T.Y testing & Group Testing equipments.
Organization of MDF
PARTS OF THE MDF:-Horizontal side,Vertical side
HORIZONTAL SIDE:-It is again subdivided into two parts:-
Exchange side,Line side
Description of the horizontal side:-
RACK: - On the rack, the tags are situated. One rack is having eight tags. The courting
is done from up (0) to down (7).
TAG: - Each rack consists of eight tags.
1 tag = 4 core
1 core = 4 bunch
1 bunch = 2 line

N.E.:- The word NE stands for the ‘NUMBER OF EQUIPMENT’.

It is a 128 pair cable. The MDF connected by NE.
WEDGE:-If we want to disconnect any two numbers then we insert a wedge between
subscriber side and exchange side. Here wedge works as insulator made of plastic.
Power Plant

3-phase supply is given to the power plant which

convert A.C to D.C. If the supply is gone then the work
depend on batteries of 2 cell. Each cell contain 24
batteries. The capacity of each battery is 5000 amp
and all are connected parallely.Dry cell batteries are
used for it.
A.C Plant
For the function of electrical equipment, cooling
system is basic requirement. The basic advantages of
cooling systems are following :-

It provides the thermal stability so that the

temperature does not reach the tolerance limit of
electronic equipment.
It saves equipment from dust so to avoid malfunction
of equipment’s.
It protects equipment from excess humidity which
can caused rusting of equipment.
