DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PNEUMATIC

SCISSOR LIFT ER
ABSTRACT
• A scissor lift is a type of platform which moves in
a vertical direction for transfer of material from one level to
another. The mechanism used to achieve this is a two pairs of
scissor arms in a criss-cross ‘X’ pattern, known as pantograph.

• The upward/downward motion is achieved by the

applying force to a connecting member between two opposite
arms. The motion of the scissor lift can be achieved through
either pneumatic drive system. A hand operated control valve
for changing direction and a metering out circuit to control
speed.
OBJECTIVES
• The main objective of a scissor lift over other
mechanisms is that you pack a lot of travel in to a small space.
Any scissor platform, when retracted, occupies a fraction of its
height when extended. Additionally, because of the physics
behind it, scissor lifts extend out extremely quickly.

• However, depending on the design of the lift, there is a

good chance that the lift wills not move at constant velocity.
Many scissor lifts move slowly when they are near full
extension or contraction, and much more quickly in between
these extremes

SCISSOR LIFT ASSEMBLY
ADVANTAGES
• It is the cheaper than hydraulic scissor lifter.
• Less vibration an be ensured by the system.
• Easy to operate.
• Easy to control.
APPLICATION OF SCISSOR LIFTER
In production:
A flexible and adjustable working height table in production
lines.

In warehouse:
A loading table to transfer goods to/from trailers especially
for warehouses dock levellers.

In showroom:
Vehicle lifting equipment in showrooms or convection
centres. Used for transporting vehicles from one level to another.

In shopping mall:
Serves as a stage lift in shopping malls. It is raised and
lowered by the double stage scissor lift.
