STEPS IN GETTING THE
PRODUCT OF THE
SQUARE OF A
TRINOMIAL
Example:
1. Solve (𝒎 − 𝟐𝒏 + 𝟑𝒑)𝟐

Solution:
1. Get the squares of the first three terms:
 (m)2 = m2  (-2n)2 = 4n2  (3p)2 = 9p2

2. Twice the product of the first and the second terms.


 2(m)(-2n) = -4mn

3. Twice the product of the first and the third terms.


 2(m)(3p) = 6mp
4. Twice the product of the second and the third terms.
 2(-2n)(3p) =-12np

5. Final answer is:

m2 + 4n2 + 9p2 - 4mn + 6mp - 12np
