DEGREE OF COMPARISON
Degrees of comparison adalah bentuk adjective (kata sifat)
atau adverb (kata keterangan) yang menyatakan perbandingan.

Fungsi sosial
Mengidentifikasi, mengenalkan, memuji, mengkritik, mengagumi.

1. Positive Degree (perbandingan setara)

Pattern: S + to be / verb + as ...... as + O
Example: - The task is not as difficult as you imagine
- My brother drives as carefully as my father
2. Comparative Degree (tingkat lebih)
a. 1 Syllable
Pattern: S + to be / verb + adj (er) +than + O
Example : This dictionary is cheaper than mine.
My younger brother runs faster than you.

b. 2 or more syllables
Pattern: S + to be / verb + more + adj + than + O
Example : Your book is more expensive than mine
My younger brother studies more diligent
than me.
3. Superlative Degree (tingkat paling)
a. 1 Syllable
Pattern: S + to be + the + adj (est) ....
Example : He is the laziest among them all.
Jones is the oldest students in our class.

b. 2 or more syllables
Pattern: S + to be + the + most + adj ....
Example : Jones is the most intelligent student.
Rose is the most beautiful flower.
