“PARTIALLYREPLACEMENT OF CEMENT BY RICE
HUSK ASH AND SUGAR MOLASSES”

Presented By:-

ARSHAD SIDDIQUI

ROLL NO. 1552500028

INTRODUCTION

• Replacement of cement partially by rice husk ash at various

percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% by the weight of cement.

• And add sugar molasses like 0.4%, 0.8%, 1.2% 1.6%, 2%, by mass
of cementitious material at the constant rate of rice husk ash at which
replacement give the maximum strength .
OBJECTIVE

● To determine the optimum content of the amount of Rice husk ash

as a partial replacement of cement and addition of sugar molasses

in construction of specimen.

● To study the effect of rice husk ash and sugar molasses waste on

strength parameter.
LIST OF MATERIAL USED

● Ordinary Portland Cement 43 grade.

● Fine aggregate.

● Coarse aggregate.

● Rice husk ash.

● Admixture(CICO plast super HS).

● Sugar molasses.

● Water

● Ordinary Portland cement 43 grade was used conforming

to IS 8112–1989 and physical properties are given below:

Sugar Molasses
• Initially the term molasses referred specifically to the final effluent
obtained in the preparation of sucrose by repeated evaporation,
crystallization and centrifugation of juices fro sugar cane and from
sugar beets.
• Today, several types of molasses are recognized and in general, any
liquid feed ingredient that contains in excess of 43% sugars is termed
molasses.

Experimental Procedure
● Selection of Mould : Since we have to check strength

parameters that is compressive strength so we used cubical

types of moulds.

● To measure compressive strength cubical mould of size

150x150x150 mm is used.

Casting of Specimen :
● To test the variation in compressive strength with the variation of

rice husk ash content in design mix, six cubical specimens each are
made with rice husk ash contents 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%.
● Then after, I have selected one of the above sample which give the

optimum strength and then vary the sugar molasses at 0.4%, 0.8%,
1.2%, 1.6%, 2% and cast the cube .

Conclusions

The following conclusions were made based on the findings of the

study:
● Compressive strength of rice husk ash concrete up to 10%
replacement level is optimum to referral concrete at 28 days.
● It was observed that at 28days in 10% replacement of OPC by rice
husk ash and addition of sugar molasses at 0.8% by the weight of
cementitious material increased the strength.
● It was observed that at 28days in 10% replacement of OPC by rice
husk ash and addition of sugar molasses at 0.8%, the strength
increased up to maximum.
