 DESICCATED COCONUT
5 TECHNICAL ASPECTS

 First step in the manufacture of desiccated coconut is the selection of coconuts.

 The coconuts are dehusked and their shells are removed. The brown portion of nuts
called tasta is removed by scrapping it off.
 Deshelled coconuts are broken into pieces, washed properly and disintegrated into
powders of various grades.
 The main effluent produced in the process of desiccated coconut is the after wash water
having dissolved solids and coconut oil.
 The level of dissolved solids and oil is not significant and the effluent water could be
safely used for irrigation purpose or drained out after trapping solids and oils.
 Electrical energy is the main energy source in the process of desiccated coconut
manufacturing. Efforts should be made to keep power load at the minimum at a time.
Capacitors should be fitted for motors to keep power factor to its maximum.
6 BOILERS
 There are two types of boilers: ''fire-tube'' and ''water-tube'‘.

 I could compute a mass balance on steam vapor side.

processes, specifically to
separate solids and liquids.
7 TETRA PACK PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY

 Tetra Pak is the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions.
 Tetra Paks are made up of a number of components which
are layered: paperboard(made from wood), polyethylene (a type of
plastic) and aluminum.
8 INDUSTRIAL SAFETY

 I trained under the safety , health and environment

section.
 They have OHSAS 1800:2007 Occupational Health
and Safety Management Certification.
 Also I could design some safety instruction notice board
for the factory.
9 CONCLUSION

• My training was a great experience

• What we learned in our theoretical subjects ae observed

• I had the pleasure to do the work with one of the most

reputed manufacturer in their field
