• Performing arts are a form of art in which artists use their
voices, bodies or inanimate objects to convey artistic expression. It is different from visual arts, which is when artists use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects. Performing arts include a range of disciplines which are performed in front of a live audience. BANGA TITLE OF ARTWORK: BANGA ARTIST: - Organized by Sister Aurora Sambrano, -I.C.M , -Master artist Mr. Cirilo “Sapi” Bawer. FUNCTION/PURPOSE: This dance is performed with Kalinga women showing their agility in balancing the bangas on top of their heads while toddling through rice paddies and mountain paths; a daily routine to fetch water from the mountain springs. Style: Interpretative dance MESSAGE: 1967, the “KAYAW” cultural group was formed with the goal of reviving the culture and to interpret the rituals and ways of life of not only the Kalinga tribal peoples but the rest of the Cordilleras through dance, music, songs and drama. The Kalinga use local sources for the clay to make their pots. The known potters are the women from the villages of Puapo and Dalupa in Pasil, and in the village of Dognak in Lubuagan. These clay pots are made for fetching and storing water, cooking, storing of food, and for bartering. KATIPS:ANG MGA BAGONG KATIPUNERO Theater Play : "Katips: Ang Mga Bagong Katipunero" Artist: Philstagers Function/Purpose: this musical is intended to enlighten those millennials who seem to have been bombarded by "myths" about the state of the country during the Martial Law era. Style: Historical/Social Musical Message: What is quite ironic is that, after watching the show, you are immediately reminded that the Philippines is still living under a democracy; that a show like this can be staged without having to worry about getting into some sort of trouble with the state. During the time of Martial Law, there have been accounts of lives that were compromised because of these acts. IT TAKES A MAN AND A WOMAN DRAMA: IT TAKES A MAN AND A WOMAN Artist: Director: Cathy Garcia Molina Starring: Sarah Geronimo, John Lloyd Cruz and Isabelle Daza Function/Purpose : It opens our mind that even if we falls down there will always a rainbow that follows. It will motivate us to become a better version of ourselves, hatred can help us achieve our goals and love can forgive despite all the struggles or problems that a certain person cause you. Style: Filipino Romantic Comedy Message: It takes a man and a woman from the title itself "it takes" that means there will always be a right time, we fall then we should stand up, we have a lot of time to fix what is broken. Even if he/she hurted you there will be a right time that the both of you will heal and would be able to forgive each other. And also to become truly happy we should forgive the person that hurts us. This movie will teach us how to forgive. UPUAN Music: Upuan Artist: Aristotle pollisco (Gloc-9) Ft. Jeazel Grutas of Zelle Function/Purpose: The song Upuan is a chair referred to the executive chair either local or national,Tao po, literally translated is "person" + po which is a Filipino word signifying respect this phrase is normally used when you go to another house that has no doorbell so we yell "tao po" a gesture for the person inside the house that we either want to go inside, or ask them. Style: Social and Political Message : Gloc-9 wrote this song as a calling for those who have the power. The power to turn the lives of the other people into better. Those persons behind those high walls, living in a mansion, riding in a convoy. Those persons who have the position, a position which were given by the people who gave their trust. Being trusted is a privileged but they do not see the essence of being a leader- to lead the country and to improve the life of its people. ANAK Music: Anak Artist: Freddie Aguilar Function/Purpose:This is for the reason that most of the youngsters today tend to get their influences from modern media and they are not often supervised with it. As a result, some forgets to value and give respect to adults and to their parents. So as they listen to the song, they may cultivate lessons from it and apply it to their lives. Style: Message: Freddie Aguilar wrote this song as a way of asking forgiveness to his parents after he realized his mistakes. Also, the message of this song is nearly identical to The Parable of The Prodigal Son. It’s about the everlasting love of parents to their children even in the moments wherein they are being disobeyed or rebelled against. HIMALA Film: HIMALA Artist: Director: Ishmael Bernal Starring: Nora Aunor Function/Purpose: It is a profound work dwelling on from the falling short of mankind in the stability of their faith to the commercialization of religion to patriarchal societies, Himala exposes the weakness of people to events or acts contrary to the laws of nature; supposed to be workings of God. Style: Faith and Religion Message: The Philippines is a country where the Catholic Church rules. Divorce and abortion are illegal. Clergymen interfere in politics routinely. Sex education is labelled as a work of the devil. Forgiveness is as easy as sin (Wiki "Imelda" and "Erap"). Ishmael Bernal's HIMALA truly was our cinematic miracle. It confronted our diseased culture of blind faith and asks us to question what is right, and not to be one of the mindless zombies crawling up a hill on its knees.
