• Silk produced is light brown

• Found in Indo-Australian
region,Sudan and China

COAN SILKWORM
Biological Name: Pachypasa atus
• Found in Mediterranean region
mainly on Italy,Greece,Romania
and Turkey

• They feed upon leaves of


pine,cypress,oak and juniper

• Secrete white colored superior silk


used in clothes of dignitaries of
ancient times

MUSSEL SILK
• The Mussel silk is produced
by mussels found on
seabeds,generally Byssus
molluscs

• This is different as it is not


produced by silkworm

• Since its production is rare,it


is considered most
expensive silk till date
