THE WONDER TREE

• (An Arabian Folk Tale)


On the Desert of Arabia, there was
a tribe ruled by Ali Ben Ahmed.
Their tents pitched on the
trackless sand.
On the evening his
daughter Zuleika ran to
him and told him that
there was a stranger
going to their tribe.

The new comer told them


that the Great Sheikh Ben
Nedi was coming the next
day. Zuleika loves visitors
because she want some
marvelous stories.
Everyone was excited for their
visitor it’s a great leader from
another tribe, so they prepared
gift for the coming Sheikh. While
everyone is busy preparing their
tuft. Only Zuleika sat alone and
idle because she had no gift to
offer to Sheikh Ben Nedi.
Zuleika sat on a great stone near
the well and wept. Suddenly out of
the well appeared a misty white
figure took a shape of a beautiful
fairy.
Zuleika looking at her in
amazement.
The Fairy asked
Zuleika why she
was crying and
Zuleika told her
the reason. The
fairy told her that
she has more to
offer to the
Sheikh and come
back tomorrow
where her tears
fell upon and she
will find
something to
give to the
Sheikh.
The next morning Zuleika
came back and found the
three standing, so she told her
father. That afternoon the
great Sheikh came and
agreed that Zuleika’s gift was
the best of all.

Arabia bless the day for


they know that the tree
will furnish them with
food, fiber, shades and
for it springs from the
desert tribes and it
desires of the heart.
