    • The Industrial Revolution is a scientific and


    technological movement.

    • It originated in Britain in the mid-eighteenth


    century and expanded throughout the world
    from the nineteenth century.

    • The reasons for the origins of the Industrial


    Revolution were:

    o Increase in agricultural production

    o Abundant labor

    o Technical innovation

    cultivation techniques, use of
    fertilizer, etc.

    • The textile industry was the most


    important branch, cotton was
    the engine of change.

    • It arises from 1850.

    • The substitution of iron for steel in


    industry.

    • New sources of wealth: electricity


    and oil.

    • Expansion of means of transport and


    communication.

    The Industrial Revolution brings with it new


    construction materials such as:

     The iron: emerged in the First Industrial Revolution,


    this boosted the development of new factories.

     The Steel: arises in the Second Industrial


    Revolution, this material replaces the iron for being
    more resistant and elastic.

     The concrete: allowed the construction of large


    spaces.

    La Revolución Industrial trae consigo nuevos


    materiales de construcción como:

     El Hierro: surge en la 1° Rev. Industrial, este


    impulsó el desarrollo de nuevas fábricas

     El Acero: surge en la 2° Rev. Industrial, este


    material reemplaza al hierro por ser más
    resistente y elástico.

     El Hormigón: permitió la construcción de


    espacios de grandes dimensiones.

     El Vidrio: antiguamente se empleaba solo para


    cerrar vanos, pero con los nuevos materiales se
