Temperature

Temperature is a physical quantity expressing hot and cold.

-Some scientist prefer to say that temperature is a measure of the


energy (mostly kinetic) of the molecules in a system.

-Some scientist prefer to say that temperature is a property of the


state of thermal equilibrium of the system with respect to other
systems because temperature tells us about the capability of a
system to transfer heat.

We use four types of TEMPERATURE, based on a

(i) Relative scale


a. Fahrenheit (ºF)
b. Celsius (ºC)

(ii) Absolute scale


a. Rankine (ºR)
b. Kelvin (K)
