COMPETENCY THREE

Advance human rights and social,

economic, and environmental justice


BEHAVIOR ONE

 Apply understanding of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human

rights at the individual and systems level.

 A main issue that is faced at AHS is poverty level and socioeconomic status. Many

children/students do not have the proper resources available to them and as a school social

worker it is my job to locate these resources and help eliminate gaps for them on all levels, but

especially poverty and low income levels.


BEHAVIOR TWO
 Engage in practice that advance social, economic, and environmental justice.

 A huge need for AHS was to begin a PTA again, and that is where I led my agency project

towards. By taking this task of creating a PTA and getting more parent involvement, it will

better benefit the students and the school overall. Also attending any events sanctioned by the

school or community that focus on bettering for the students.


BEHAVIOR THREE
 Social Justice: AHS has an incentive program for students who are attending school, not

skipping classes, and not having to be sent to the learning lab for disruptive behavior as well.

This program helps keep students on track and focused, and also keeping attendance levels up.

 Economic Justice: Local churches around the county do “blessing in a book bag”, for students

to take home over the weekends, full of different foods, so that everyone has access to food

until returning to school.
