NEBULA
● Stars start as a formless dense region known as a nebula
● Eventually nebula shrinks and warms up, pulled together by gravity
● Each nebula can form few to few thousand stars
● Two different star types can be made
SUN-LIKE STAR
● A smaller star
● Mainly made of hydrogen
● Energy created by hydrogen fusing into helium
● Turns to red giant at end of its life
● Dies once gaseous fuel runs out
○ Explodes in a planetary nebula
● White dwarf remains
MASSIVE STAR
● Significantly larger than sun-like stars
● Turns to red supergiant at end of lifecycle
● Also mainly made of hydrogen
● Multiple things could happen at the end of its life:
○ Supernova: star explodes and shoots out elements
■ Neutron star remains, a dense mass primarily composed of neutrons
○ Black Hole: star collapses in on itself, forming one
