This document outlines a student project to design and fabricate a miniature road maintenance machine. The objectives are to develop a machine that can repair potholes up to 30cm in diameter within 15 minutes without requiring skilled labor. It will incorporate cleaning, tack coating, mixing asphalt, and compacting into a single portable unit. The design will include a compressor, tack coat sprayer, mixer, and vibrating roller to efficiently complete the repair process. This machine aims to improve road conditions, reduce accidents and traffic jams, and allow for more efficient transportation.

• To reduce the accidents caused by the bad road conditions
• Reduce the transportation time • Minimize the traffic jam caused by the bad road condition • Avoid damage to the vehicle by irregular road conditions • To improve efficiency of vehicles • Provid better comfort journey STATEMENT OF HOW THE OBJECTIVES ARE TO BE SATISFIED • It is observed that there are lot of machines available in order to patch pothole. • But all the machines require heavy labour, time, cost etc. Repairing few potholes in a road, using these heavy machines won’t be economical and road maintenance department normally don’t go for it. • As a result the pothole spreads and become bigger to make worse condition on road. Hence, it is necessary to control pothole from its beginning stage itself in order to prevent it from further spreading BASIC IDEA • The road maintenance machine mainly consists of compressor, tack coat spraying unit mixer unit, vibrating roller unit • Compressor-Used to make pressurized air to clean the pothole • Tack coat spraying unit-It sprays tack coat to pothole • Mixer- The function of mixer, is to mix the asphalt bitumen, stone chips in uniform proportion and ensure the heat is properly used so as to melt the mix and hence forming the required aggregate for pothole sealing • Roller unit-It is used to roll the aggregates that are deposited in the path hole and that help to bond between aggregates BASIC DESIGN DRAWING EXPECTED RESULT • Within 15 minutes we can fix a pothole of 30cm diameter • Compact design • Easily operable • Don't require skilled labour BENEFITS • Cover the potholes • Reduce the accidents • Increase the transportation efficiency • Reduce the block • Compact design WORK PLAN SL PROPOSED NO TASKS FINISHING DATE
