WHAT ARE THEY?

• They are the words used to refer to nouns mentioned previously,


whether they are people, places, things, animals, or ideas and also,
they can be used to join two sentences.
• Relative clauses are typically introduced by relative pronouns.
WHICH ARE THE
RELATIVE PRONOUNS?

• They are: which, that,


whose, whoever, whomever,
who, and whom.
EXAMPLES

• The cyclist who won the race trained hard.


• The pants that I bought yesterday are already stained.
• Chicken , which I eat at least twice a week, is one of my favorite
meals.
• Where did you buy the dress that you wore last week?
• The store on the corner, the one which we usually buy all of our art
supplies, was renovated.
They let us know more details about something or someone.
