Definition of counseling

 Counseling is a face to face communication by which


you help the person to make decision or solve a
problem and act on them.

 Counseling is a helping process aimed at problem


solving.

 Counseling done with individuals, group or with couple.

Elements of counseling

 The counselor
- a person who is professional capable to extend help

 The counselee
- the person who seeks help and lets himself/ herself subjective for the
counselling

 The environment
- a place to facilitate counseling

Need of counseling

 Allow the individual to help himself


 Facilitates to look at the situations with a new perspective
 Develops positive attitude
 Motivates to search alternative solutions to problems
 Reduce stress at home, in the workplace, or in relationships
 Help with your physical health by reducing emotional worries or stressors
 Identify the goals that you have in life, as well make new goals that you
want to achieve
 Work through your problems with a skilled and compassionate professional
counsellor
