• Hello everyone.................

• I'm Ros. So, today we'll discuss about the part of the drama
that is the forms and the genres of drama.
• I think everybody in this classroom like to watching drama,
right ?
• Talking about drama, what do you think about drama..... and
what kind of drama you have watched ?
• Ok all, one more question. Did you know what the different
between the forms and the genres of drama ?
• OK. In drama, the forms and genres it's different meaning.
• So...let's see the difference between the forms and the genre's
of drama.
• Form - form is the basis of the drama. So, it is how the drama is
constructed. So, a form is the method you choose to tell your story
and explore themes when presenting your work. For example, you
may choose to present a piece of work in the form of a mime, where
the actors don't speak.
• And...
• The genre is the type of drama you can create, which is and specific
enres often have particular conventions and create a certain style of
performance.

• Ok. I will explained to you one by one start from types of FORMS.
• A Play - Scripted and Improvised
A play divided into two parts, such as : scripted and improvised.
scripted : this is a form of drama where the dialogue is written down along with
the stage direction.
improvised : the plot is decided on and then actors make up what their
characters will say. As there is no script the dialogue can sometimes change. So,
this is like spontaneus performance without script.

• Physical Theatre : tells the story of the drama through an emphasised use of
movement where abstract movements symbolise relationships and physical
theatre often has a little dialogue but sometimes there is no dialogue. This drama
just focus on movement storytelling.
• Mime : is the action using the movement of the body to tell a story, without the
use of speech. So,it's like the performed in silence.
• Pantomime : Pantomime is different with MIME. Pantomime is a type of musical comedy and
sometimes this drama design for family entertainment. In UK, this drama always displayed during
a Christmas Day and New Year. Pantomime includes songs, gags, slapstick comedy and dancing,
employs gender-crossing actors.
• Movement (dance drama) : This form uses movement and dance to tell a story with a little
dialogue or no dialogue. This form is almost the same as physical theater, it's just that physical
theater doesn't use dance to tell a story.
• Monologue : The monologue means of expressing thoughts and emotions. Monologue is a speech
presented by a single character and when a character speaks their thoughts outloud. The
monologue is a means of expressing thoughts and emotions.
• Musical : This form uses a combination of acting, song, and dance to help tell the story to the
audience.
• Docu-drama : or documentary drama is a of radio and television programming, feature film, and
staged theatre, which a dramatized re-enactments of real events. On stage, it is sometimes known
as documentary theatre.
• Forum Theatre : uses audience participation to discuss and explore situations and issues. It is
known as the theatre of the oppressed and was created to help find solutions to social problems.

• And now is Genres of drama. I think all of you already know the genres of
drama, right ? But, I need to explained it again to you guys.

• Ok, the first one is.......


• Comedy : A comedy is entertainment consisting of jokes to make an audience
laugh. A comedy was a stage-play with a happy ending.
• Tragedy
• Tragi-comedy : is a genre that blends elements of tragedy and comedy. The
tragicomedy in the end of the story could play with a happy ending or also it
could be a sad ending.
