ABSTRACT
• Prototype for the monitoring of Heartbeat rate.
• To acquaint the input signals using Light Dependent
Resistance (LDR) and Light Emitting Diode (LED).
• Signals are amplified using a signal conditioning
circuit and processed by a controller.
• The frequency of the signal depends on the heartbeat
rate, this lays down the basic principle of the HB
measuring system.
• The user needs to put his/her finger in the HB sensor
for acquiring the input signals.
2
• Proposed system in this text provides a simpler and
robust method for measuring the heart rate.
• Implemented on the hardware and also simulated in
Proteus ISIS 7.10 to prove its effectiveness.
• Acceptable precision, straightforward and cheaper
than other heartbeat rate measuring systems.
• This work has tried to make an easy and stout system
for the monitoring of heart beat.

INTRODUCTION
• Human body is getting more prone to heart related
diseases and there is an increase in number of deaths
due to heart diseases.
• If the exact heartbeat of the person is known then the
problems related to heart can be detected and cured.
• In our heartbeat rate monitoring system, the heartbeat
of the human is measured and displayed on the
display device like alphanumeric LCD.

4
• Development of HB sensor is the most important part in
this project as it senses the heart beat and converts it into
pulses.
• Uses an operational amplifier LM324, a Bright LED and
LDR. We have to put our finger on the sensor for
measurement of the heart rate.
• The main logic behind the HB sensor is that when the
finger is kept in between light beam and LDR then the
intensity of light falling on the LDR varies due to the
movement of the blood in the human body.
• Variations are amplified and further converted in the
form of pulses.

5
• Mainly converts the heartbeat into the corresponding pulses
then we can measure these pulses using counter and timer of
microcontroller.
• After measuring the heart rate, it will be displayed on the
LCD display.
• The LCD used in our project is 16*2 alphanumeric LCD.
• No need of connecting number of electrodes and heartbeat
rate can be displayed simply.
• We made this system with minimum possible hardware and
this costs us very less, about $4.
• So this system is very affordable and it is easy to implement
by electronics hobbyists or students because of its simple
design.

LITERATURE REVIEW
ARTICLE:
• Nowadays numerous persons are mislaying their life
owing to heart attack and shortage of medical attention to
patient at correct stage.
• Hence, in this project he was implementing heart rate
monitoring and heart attack recognition system using IoT.
• Patient will carry hardware having sensors with android
application.
• Will allow checking heart beat readings and transmit
them over the internet. The user may set the high and low
level of heartbeat limits.

7
• Once these limits are set the system can start
monitoring the patient’s heartbeat .
• As heart beat readings goes above or below the limit
set by the user the system will send an alert about
high or low heartbeat .
• The results were satisfactory as travelling affected the
equipment.

• INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF
ADVANCED ENGNEERING:
• Nearness of specialist is basic for legitimate patient
consideration.
• In any case, they can't be available on every single
spot to give drug or treatment. So remote observing
of a patient is the correct arrangement.
• To send the deliberate information like heart beat
straightforwardly to a specialist through Web
application.
• Comprises of an IR base heart beat sensor, Arduino
Uno. This estimates heart beat from a baby to senior
individual.

9
• The microcontroller on the board is modified utilizing
C". LM35 is utilized for the sense body temperature.
• Body temperature is a fundamental parameter for
checking and diagnosing human wellbeing. Heart
beat sensor was utilized for detecting pulse.
• This gadget will enable one to quantify their mean
blood vessel weight (MAP) in around one moment
and the precise body temperature will be shown on
the Android.
• The framework can be utilized to gauge physiological
parameters, for example, Heart rate, Pulse rate.

METHODOLOGY
• Carried out a qualitative research.
• Used a number of equipment which included LM-
35,Pulse sensors , bread board etc.
• Original LM-35 is quiet expensive and it is not easily
available , so I had to use the local sensors.
• Worked on PIC microcontrollers and they are used
for beginners and it has very low power consumption.
• Calibrated my reading from a local temperature
sensor to verify my results.

11
• There was a mismatch in readings , so I had to check
my complete line codes and then I got to the
conversion lines.
• I changed the formula and finally I got the
approximate readings.
