PNEUMATİC SYSTEM

What is Pneumatic System?

Briefly, mechanical systems working with compressed air are called pneumatic systems.
It is often used to convert ambient air into mechanical action. (Apart from ambient air,
nitrogen and carbon dioxide are also used. Since pure oxygen is a flammable gas, it is
not used in these systems.) Compressed air obtained by filling the air inhaled in another
place in the atmosphere has the power to push. Thanks to this power, mechanical
mobility is achieved.

“Pneumatic” is a word that comes from Greek. It is the word “pneuma” whose root
means breathing. Using pneumatic energy, energy can be used in an angular, circular or
linear manner. The air pressure to be used for pneumatic systems is obtained through
the compressor and stored in air tanks. Pneumatic systems are state-of-the-art products
and they aim to maximize efficiency.
Pneumatic System Example;

The simplest example is the balloon example. When the balloon is inflated, the ambient
air is trapped for the balloon. When a sufficient amount of balloon is released after it is
inflated, the power inside it will turn into energy and the balloon will move. The system
for extracting and using energy in compressed air is called Pneumatic System.
Where is Pneumatic System Used?

Pneumatic systems are products that are constantly being developed and aiming to
increase efficiency. For this reason, they are used extensively in almost every industry.
Robotic application and automation systems are one of the main sectors where
pneumatic systems are used. In addition, these systems are used in almost every field
such as cleaning or dyeing processes, filling - packaging machines, assembly lines, food
industry, construction equipment, motor vehicles, textile industry. Especially in robotic
applications that are in the development stage today, the name is frequently mentioned.
This system is used to perform the movements of robots in human form.
What are the Advantages of Pneumatic
System?
Pneumatic systems have many advantages over other systems. First of all, the air
circulating as a gas substance in the pneumatic system minimizes the risks of
flammability or explosion. The system is generally economical and can be completed
quite simply. Its assembly is easy and simple to complete and can be disassembled and
transported depending on the situation. Another advantage is its longevity. When a very
high pressure is not used, the elements in the connection section can be used for a
long time. The system does not need a separate line for return. As air is used in it, air
can be mixed into the atmosphere again as a result of the process. Compared to other
systems, it provides great savings and advantages in terms of operating speed. The
intensity of the power that has arisen in the pneumatic system can be adjusted as
desired. Since the substance circulating in the system is air, there is no need for fluid.
With the investment made for the pneumatic system, large amounts of energy can be stored.
When stored, this stored energy can be used. Again, in optional cases, the energy obtained can
be transferred to another region or transported. Pneumatic systems lastly do not have risks
such as high pressure risk and electrical leakage.
