ELECTRIC LINEMAN SAFETY WITH
ADVANCED PASSWORD MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM USING GSM INTERFACE
INTRODUCTION

EMBEDDED SYSTEM:
 An embedded system is a special purpose system designed to perform
certain dedicated functions.
 Each embedded system accepts inputs, performs calculations and generates
outputs.
 Embedded system solve the problems in real time.
 Characteristics of embedded systems are speed, size, power, and accuracy.

APLLICATION AREAS OF EMBEDDED SYSTEMS:

 Aeronautics
 Security (e-commerce, smart cards)
 Medical electronics (hospital equipment, and mobile monitoring)
 Defence application
 Consumer electronics, music players, Computer applications
 Rail transport
 Automobile
ELECTRIC LINEMAN:
A lineman also called as line worker or powerline technician is an employee who is
responsible for construction and maintenance of electric transmission line.

DUTIES OF AN ELECTRIC LINEMAN :

Electric lineman work on electrically energised and de-energised power lines. They must
Perform number of tasks such as installation or replacement of a faulty transmission line
Capacitor, distribution transformers on poles, insulators and fuses .
Working duties are risky, sometimes they climb the mountain areas, towers and they must
Work in severe climatic conditions like severe cold and rains.

LINEMAN SAFETY:
Lineman safety is important as they work in the hazardous environments. They are provided
With personal protective equipment to safeguard them against these situations.
They are provided with rubber gloves, rubber sleeves, bucket liners and protective blankets.
Some lineman provided with fiberglass to ensure insulation and isolation.

ROLE OF EMBEDDED TECHNOLOGY FOR LINEMAN SAFETY:

Technology has played an important role in the development of workplace safety. Today many
Embedded devices are designed to help the employees in emergency situations. Lineman
BLOCK DIAGRAM OF PROPOSED SYSTEM:
 The main part of the above block diagram is PIC Microcontroller.
 The Keypad is the input device and it is connected in a matrix(4*3) format so that the numbers of ports
needed are reduced , the key pad is connected with microcontroller at port no (p1.0,1.1,1.2,1.4,1.5,1.6,1.7).
 The LCD display is used as indicator which is connected with controller at port no(p3.0TXD,p3.1 RXD,p3.7,p3.5)
& another pin no 1 VSS is connected with ground & pin no 3 VCC is connected with +5v.

SIM800C GSM MODULE:

 One 3 lines serial port and one full modem serial port,
 One USB, the USB interface can debug, download software,
 One audio channel which includes a microphone input and a speaker output,
 Programmable general purpose input and output,
 One SIM card interface,
 Supports blue-tooth.

 Relay: Electrically operated switch.

FLOWCHART INDICATING WORKING SCHEMATIC OF PRPOSED SYSTEM:
ADVANTAGES:

 It avoids the electrical accidents.

 Improve lineman safety.
 Easy operation.
 Easy to repair.
 Easy to maintain.

APPLICATIONS:

 Can be used any where in the substation to trip the circuit.

 Most useful to operate in the public areas.
CONCLUSION

 Security is prime concern in our day-to-day life. Every one

wants to be as much as secure as to be possible.
 This system provides a new approach to secure the life of a
lineman.
 The circuit can be trimmed without any fail and load can also
be controlled when required.
