Problem Statement

• The objective is to build an IOT based system to detect air

and sound pollution in the surrounding areas and to send an
alert to the user to create awareness.
Proposed Solution

• The proposed system detects the air and sound pollution of the
surrounding areas up to some circumference based on the users
current location.

• This system is interfaced with Maps to display the location of

pollution identified region with latitude and longitude to the user.

• Then the information gathered here is analysed and an alert will be

sent to the authorized user.

• A cloud server is also used for storing the gathered information for
further usage.
Technology Specifications
Technology :
● Internet of Things(IOT)

Hardware Requirements:
● Arduino : It is the central processing unit
● GPS modem : To track the location
● GSM modem : To send the message to the authorized user
● LCD : To display the results
● Air sensor : To sense the air quality
● Sound sensor : To sense the sound levels
Software Requirements:
● ARDUINO SKETCH : To do programming.
● The programming language used is “Embedded C”.
Technical Architecture
Modules
• User Module : The user is the one who receives the alert.

• Under the user module we have three sub-modules:

Gas Sensing Module : Deals with sensing air pollution.

Sound Sensing Module : Deals with sensing sound pollution.

Alert Module : Deals with sending message to the user about pollution.
Test Cases
1. When the system detects noise in the surrounding areas of the user an
alert will be sent.

2. When the system detects harmful pollutants in the surrounding areas of

the user an alert will be sent.

3. When no noise is identified in the surrounding areas of the user no alert

will be sent to the user.

4. When no harmful pollutants are identified in the surrounding areas of

the user then no alert will be sent to the user.
Results
• The following is the alert which is sent to the user when the system identified noise
in the surrounding areas of the user.
Future Scope

• This system can be extended by showing the pollution levels and the safety
measures that the user can be taken for those different levels of pollution in an
android application.

• The system can be minimized and can be placed in our gadgets. So, that the user
can continuously monitor the pollution and can take necessary precautions for
healthy being.
