QUARTILE, DECILE, PERCENTILE AND ARRANGED

Median is a point which when through that point is drawn a line

perpendicular to the horizontal axis, then the line that will divide the area of a
smooth curve into two regions which the breadth of the same.
This concept we extend to kwartil, where the area of smooth curves it is divided into
four areas breadth the same, see the diagram above :

Q1 is kwartil to - 1
Q2 is kwartil to – 2
Q3 is kwartil to - 3
Area I = area II
= the area of III = area of IV
To calculate the kwartil structured data used the formula similar
to the median of the data is made.
Where : Qı = kwartil to - i

Bb = the lower limit of the class kwartil to - i
𝑖 .𝑛 p = the length of the class
( − 𝐹𝑖)
4 N = number of data
𝑄 𝑖 = 𝐵𝑏𝑖 + 𝑝
𝐹 𝑄1 Fi =is the number frequency - frequency of
the class before the class kwartil to-i
fQi = is the frequency of class kwartil to - i
To kwartil to - 1 : Q1 = i =is the number 1.2 or 3
To kwartil to - 2 : Q2 =
To kwartil to - 3 : Q3 =

Therefore on the quartiles of this

there are 3 values which are 1,
quartile two and quartile three
then of the formula 1.11.1 will be
obtained three pieces of the
formula.
The concept of the meaning of the science of the measurement of the median of data
arranged we expand to decile data are organized.
To calculate the decile to - i we use the formula

Di =

Where :
d = is the decile to – i
Bbi = is the lower limit of class decile 1st
p =is the length of the class
n =is the number of data
Fi, =is the number of frequency-frequency class-the class
before the class decile to - i
Fdi =is the frequency of class decile to - i
N =is the integer 1, 2, 3, ... Or 9
