The ubiquitous yin-yang symbol
holds its roots in Taoism/Daoism, a
Chinese religion and philosophy.
The yin, the dark swirl, is associated
with shadows, femininity, and the
trough of a wave; the yang, the light
swirl, represents brightness, passion
and growth
