Guidelines for

Preparing RRL2

1
1. Remember that the RRL is the meat
of your research. It would be the basis
of your Chapter 1 and your
questionnaire.

2
2. Consider your title. You will
derive the variables from the title.
It will be the basis of the discussion
in Chapter 1.

3
If your title is , Profile of Academy
Teacher and Students’ Academic
Achievement, the two variables
are:
1.Academy Teacher
2. Academic Achievement

4
3. Prepare an outline of the contents
of your RRL based on your variables.
This will guide you in putting together
all your materials.

5
If your title is , Profile of Academy Teacher and Students’ Academic
Achievement, the two variables are:
1. Profile of Academy Teacher
2. Academic Achievement
The outline can look like this:
Review of Related Literature
I. Definition of Academy
Who is an academy teacher?
What are the activities that take place in an academy?
What are the benefits of being in an academy?
II. What is student achievement?
How do you measure student achievement?
Researches about student achievement

6
4. Start with defining the variables
and describing them. Include
researches that are more or less
similar to yours.

7
5. Make sure that you cite your
sources properly. Consider
citation format.

8
Examples:
Works by a single author
The last name of the author and the year of publication are
inserted in the text at the appropriate point from theory on
bounded rationality (Simon, 1945)

If the name of the author or the date appear as part of the

narrative, cite only missing information in parentheses.
Simon (1945) posited that

Examples:

Works by multiple authors

When a work has two authors, always cite both names every time the
reference occurs in the text. In parenthetical material join the names with
an ampers and (&).as has been shown (Leiter & Maslach, 1998)
In the narrative text, join the names with the word "and."
as Leiter and Maslach (1998) demonstrated
When a work has three, four, or five authors, cite all authors the first time
the reference occurs.
Kahneman, Knetsch, and Thaler (1991) found
In all subsequent citations per paragraph, include only the surname of the
first author followed by "et al." (Latin for "and others") and the year of
publication.

6. Use the Univers font. Font size is
12, double-space. Make sure
that you justify for alignment.

11
7. Consult the researches in the
College library if you want to see
how the RRL looks like.

12
8. Remember that you must not use
the first person pronoun. Make
sure that everything is third
person.

13
It is alright to use scratch paper.
(papers that have been used previously)

14
A copy of the templates to use is
available through Moodle.
