High Andean wetland complexes are found in the area.
However, in all ecotourism areas the climate is paramo or very cold and rainy, comprising ecosystems as varied as wetlands, rainforests and humid forests.
It has more than 383 plant species and it is estimated that the total flora of the area can exceed 2,000 species.

The park has all the thermal
floors that can be found within
the Colombian territory, from the
equatorial rain forest at 700
meters above sea level, through
cloud forests between 1500 and
3000 meters above sea level,
then through the paramo area and
super paramo until the 4,200 to
 P.N.N los nevados
The park is composed of diverse
ecosystems that change
depending on the altitude. The lower
regions of the park are composed of
Andean forests and high Andean
wetlands. The higher regions of the
park consist of the páramo and super-
páramo ecosystems. The páramo is
composed of grassland, peat bog,
