Past simple verb forms

are created by adding

e+ d (ed)

In the end of the verb.

For example
Want + ed = wanted
 He wanted a new car

Call+ ed = called
 She called him on the phone
For verbs ending in –e- we add

“d”

in the end
For example
Change+ d = changed

He changed his clothes

For verbs ending in –y-

y i

+ed

In the end.
For example
Try
Y  i + ed = tried

He tried really hard.

 If the verb ends with “-y” and there is a vowel
before it, we don´t change the “y”.

 For example:
Stay + ed = stayed

No  Staied
When the verb ends in CVC...

 S T O P

CONSONANT + VOWEL + CONSONANT

We double the last consonant and we

add “-ed” in the end
For example
Stop + p + ed = stopped

The car stopped.
