GERUND is a verbal that
uses the present
participle of a verb
(the ing form) but acts as
a noun.
Officer Judy, How we can
determine the functions of
Gerund in a sentence?
That’s a nice

though gerund is a
noun, Gerund can
act as a subject,
subjective
complement, direct
object, object of the
preposition and
appositives.
Officer Judy, isn’t it
confusing? We really
had a hard time
understanding it.
Please give us
examples.
Acting is fun.

The best form of
exercise, walking, is
also the least
expensive. (Walking is the
gerund in this sentence and
acts as an appositive
explaining the best form of
exercise.)
My favorite hobby is gardening.
(Gerund as Subjective Complement.
“My favorite hobby” is the subject,
and gardening is its complement.)
Now that I explained
already the functions of
Gerund, there’s nothing
