Using the iBI Tool For

Calculating TPTs
Purpose

This tutorial is intended to demonstrate to users and provide an example for performing TPT
calculations
 In this example the iBI tool will be used to pull data from HSD-ES
– This data will include every revision of the bug records that are being used for calculating TPTs
against
 An Excel spreadsheet will also be used to demonstrate how to perform the TPT calculations
– The calculations will tally how much time each bug has spent in each given status.reason
combination
– The average and median times per status.reason as well as how many bugs had entered that state
will be calculated
 The iBI Query tool is available at: https://intelpedia.intel.com/IBI_Query_Overview

Example Steps

1. "Firstly, you need a list of Bug IDs to calculate the TPTs against.
• This can be generated via a separate HSD-ES query to find the IDs
• A second option would be to add search criteria in the iBI query in place
of known IDs
• The first example (having known IDs) will be covered in the following
examples"

2. Paste your list of record IDs in the worksheet "iBI Query

Statement" starting with cell A9 going down
• The step currently supports up to 200 record IDs but can be increased if
needed

3. Copy the contents of cells A2:A5 of the same worksheet ("iBI

Query Statement") This example is using the “iBI TPT Calculation” example spreadsheet

Microsoft Excel
Worksheet

4. Paste the contents from cells A2:A5 in the “iBI Query Statement”
worksheet into the iBI Query tool's Command window

5. Execute the query and export to Excel (Ctrl+F5)

• Or just execute the query to see the results inside the iBI tool (F5)

6. Paste the results from the iBI Query into the "Query
Results" worksheet starting in cell A2
 In this sample I have added columns (I and J) for
performing TPT calculations
 These calculations assume the data is in the default columns
 If the default iBI query is not used, the calculations may
need to be updated

7. Copy the Bug Id column (A:A)

8. Paste the Bug Id list into the "Temp sheet to extract
IDs" worksheet

9. Remove the duplicate ID values from the list (Data

tab > Remove Duplicates option)

10. In the "TPT Calc Tables" worksheet, delete any

previous IDs (column A beginning with cell A3)

11. Paste the list of unique IDs from Step 9 into column
A of the "TPT Calc Tables" worksheet beginning at
A3
