SYNOPSIS
 Morning Star is an agribusiness and food processing company
 It was found by Chris Rufer in 1970
 Morning Star had a strong approach to self management
 Employees were given considerable level of freedom so they
felt responsible for their actions
 There were no appointed managers, no hierarchy in
organization
 CLOU(COLLEAGUE LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING)
A key tool was used to understand each employee’s
responsibility, activities, ”Stepping Stones”, time commitments
 Dispute solving system was very efficient in Morning Star
 Organization was very supportive in enhancing the skill set of
employees
 Compensation committee
CORE ISSUES
 Peer Accountability –Not everyone was ready to take the
responsibility of others
 No specific designations and promotions-This led to lack of
motivation
 Lack of proper direction and growth
 Compensation-Committee lacked decision making authority,
No specific parameters to analyze a person’s performance
RECOMMENDATIONS
 Instill a feeling of positive competition among employees
 Provide incentives or bonus to hold others accountable
 Should also take Peer accountability as a factor for
compensation
 Compensation committee should be given a proper
framework so that they can take better decisions
