Understanding Emotional Intelligence

 Emotional intelligence (EI) is the capability to use emotional

information to guide thinking and behavior, and manage and/or
adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one's goal.

 Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the capacity of recognizing our

own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, for
managing emotions in ourselves as well as in our relationships.
Components of Emotional Intelligence

1) Self Awareness
It is an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, your motivation
factors, and how & why you respond to situations in a particular way. It
enables us to sustain our behaviour over time, despite setbacks.

2) Self-management
It is how effectively we manage our own emotions, and how well we control
our responses to new or challenging situations. Emotional self-control is the
ability to keep impulsive feelings and emotions under control.
