Definition

• An adverb is a word or set of words that modifies verbs ,adjectives and other
adverbs. It tells when, where and how an action is performed.
• Examples
He is running fast
Robin is always hungry for success
Types of Adverbs

• There are four types of adverbs


Adverbs of manner
Adverbs of place
Adverbs of time
Adverbs of frequency
Adverbs of Manners

• It tells us that in which way the action occur or how the action occur

• Examples
She speaks loudly
He was running fast
Adverbs of Place

• It tells us where the action occur

• Example
The children are playing in park
She went upstairs
Adverbs of Time

• It tells us about the time of an action i.e. now, then, yesterday, soon

• Examples
I will buy a new car tomorrow
The guest came yesterday
Adverbs of frequency

• It tells us how many times the action occurs i.e. daily, sometimes,
often, frequently etc

• Examples
He rarely smokes
Barking dogs seldom bites
