ERP market
The ERP market is a very competitive and fast
growing market.
According to Research, the enterprise resource
planning (ERP) market is experiencing double-digit
growth in 2007, and is expected to continue to grow
at an average of 10% over the next five years.
The ERP market continues to benefit from a
widespread acceptance of the idea that business must
have integrated information systems to be
competitive.
SAP continues to be the biggest player in the market
Last year SAP led the pack with nearly
7% market share riding on a 6.4% jump in
ERP license, maintenance and
subscription revenues.
 Oracle was #2, followed by Intuit ,
FIS Global and Fiserv.
SAP R/3 is one of the main product of
SAP,where R stands for RealTime and the
number 3 relates to three tier application
architecture includes
Presentation Layer
Application Layer
Database Layer
SAP is the structure of the application. SAP represents the
architecture of SAP’s 3 tier architecture. This has the
Application, the layers for Pres and DB.
SAP HANA is the name of a new database that has been
added to the list of databases, that has databases such as
Oracle, DB2, SQL, MSSQL, and Sybase etc.
HANA is the specific and personal database of SAP. HANA
has been developed for greater accuracy and faster speed,
when it comes to performance. The performance of SAP
HANA is much better than any other existing databases,
because SAP HANA has an in-memory concept.
SAP modules
Baan Corporation (acquired by Infor Global Solutions)
and SAP SE- both are German software companies that
provide Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to
globally reputed organizations from different
Geographies.
If you compare Baan ERP and SAP ERP according to
their global customer base, SAP will stand far ahead of
Baan. Infor Baan has 1,448 client businesses across the
world, whereas, 12,797 companies worldwide use SAP
ERP for managing business. Unlike the wide global
customer network of SAP ERP, Baan has its own network
of companies that are their long-term satisfied customers.
BaanERP supports a three-tier architecture
consisting of a user interface tier, an application
tier, and a database tier. The user interface tier
provides presentation and input services for user
interaction. The application tier consists of the
BaanERP application server and the application
programs. The database tier includes the
BaanERP database driver and a third party
RDBMS product that acts as the database server.

Figure 1 depicts the BaanERP architecture. The
emphasis of this document is the BaanERP database
driver. The database driver is the interface between
the BaanERP applications and the RDBMS server.
The database driver translates database requests from
the BaanERP application server to RDBMS specific
SQL requests that it sends to the database server.
After the database server retrieves the requested
information, the database driver then passes the data
back to the BaanERP application server.

The three-tier architecture that comprises an Oracle E-Business Suite
installation is made up of the database tier, which supports and
manages the Oracle database; the application tier, which supports and
manages the various Oracle E-Business Suite components, and is
sometimes known as the middle tier; and the client (desktop) tier,
which provides the user interface via an add-on component to a
standard web browser.
MS Dynamics
Microsoft Dynamics is a line of
enterprise resource planning (ERP) and
customer relationship management (CRM)
software applications. Microsoft markets Dynamics
applications through a network of reselling partners who
provide specialized services.[1] Microsoft Dynamics forms
part of "Microsoft Business Solutions". Dynamics can be
used with other Microsoft programs and services, such as
SharePoint, Yammer, Office 365, Azure and Outlook. The
Microsoft Dynamics focus-industries are retail, services,
manufacturing, financial services, and the public sector.[
citation needed] Microsoft Dynamics offers services for small,

medium, and large businesses.[2][3][4]

Customer Insights -- Combines customer data from Dynamics
365, Office 365 and third-party data sources, and helps users
find actionable insights from that data. Includes Power BI for
analytics and visualization, and artificial intelligence tools to
identify customer behaviors and provide predictive scoring.
Customer Service -- Omnichannel customer engagement tools,
customer self-service and communities, and tools for support
agents.
Field Service -- Scheduling resources, contract management,
inventory management, insight into internet of things-
connected products and customer communications tools.
Finance and Operations -- Financial management with reporting and analytics;
manufacturing tools for project management, production planning, scheduling,
and cost management; and warehouse and inventory control tools for
supply chain management.
Marketing -- Connects Dynamics CRM to Adobe Marketing Cloud to provide
campaign management and targeted, personalized marketing tools.
Project Service Automation -- Project planning, resource scheduling, time and
expense management, and service analytics.
Retail -- Unified commerce tools, store and employee management, merchandise
management and operational insights.
Sales -- Provides intelligence on prospective customers, personalization and
customer engagement, sales productivity and performance metrics.
Talent -- Human resources cloud services is connected to LinkedIn to manage all
areas of HR, from attracting, hiring and onboarding new employees to managing
HR programs.
Benefits of Dynamics 365
By combining Dynamics 365 CRM and ERP with Microsoft's
productivity applications, users get a connected view of data
intelligence on customer records, transactions, behaviors and
preferences, along with information about orders, inventory and
shipping, and in addition to predictive insight tools for decision-
makers.
The biggest benefit of Dynamics 365 is tight integration with other
Microsoft business applications. For companies that rely heavily
on Office 365 and Outlook, or that run operations on Azure,
Dynamics 365 provides more beneficial integration with sister
products than most CRM systems, which rely on third-party plug-
ins. Microsoft is also growing its stable of third-party applications
to pair with Dynamics 365 through the AppSource store.
