A. Drill
Direction: Pamela finally had
time to visit their farm. She took
a picture of their farm and is
now asking you to write a
fraction for the ratio of:
B. Review
Direction: Find the simplest form of the
following ratio.
1. 18 : 36
2. 4 : 16
3. 10 : 15
4. 21 :28
5. 35 :42
C. Presentation
The teacher will show a
picture of a group of dogs.
a. How did you guess the actual number
of dogs in the picture? Complete the
T-chart on the board.

b. How do we write ratio?

c. What is the ratio of legs to heads in

each situation in the table?
D. Discussion
What is Ratio?
Ratio is a comparison of two quantities.
Two equal ratios form a proportion.
Ratios can be written as fractions.
We use colon ( : ) or fraction form ( x/y ) in
writing ratios.
Example:
Yaya Dub harvested 12 fruits in his orchard.
Of these fruits, 5 are mangoes and the rest are
apples.

The ratio is 5 : 12 or 5/12

The ratio is 7 : 12 or 7/12
Another Example there are 10 boys and 12
girls in this class.
What is the ratio of boys to girls what
about boys to the total number of pupils,
girls to the total number of pupils.

The statement that two ratios are equal

are called Proportion
How can we know if the two ratios are
equivalent to each other. By performing
cross multiplication before we move on
finding the missing term we should know
that ratio has two parts, the extremes and
the means

Example n:3 = 10:15

E. Generalization
Ratios are numbers expresses or shows
the comparison of two quantities.
Ratios, when equal are called Proportion.
In writing Ratios, we use colon form or
fraction form. We can use the cross
product rule to make equivalent ratios or
to identify a missing term in a
proportion.
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Find the value of n in each
following proportions.
1. n : 4 = 3 : 6
2. 8 : 12 = 10 : n
3. 5 : n = 1 : 2
4. 3 :7 = 24 : n
5. n : 10 = 18 : 5
